Climate change poses many threats to Missoula County’s natural ecosystems, health, economy, built environment, and cultures.
Missoula will experience hotter, drier summers with longer wildfire seasons, as well as warmer, wetter winters and springs that bring flooding events. Additionally, with climate variability, the "typical year" will be a thing of the past, and we'll likely see population increases as climate change impacts large, coastal population centers necessitating the movement of people inland.

This Vulnerability Assessment identifies and prioritizes community risks to climate change.
The information it contains was generated by more than 100 local stakeholders involved in such sectors as public health, emergency services, agriculture, forestry, recreation, business, underrepresented communities, and local water, energy, and transportation systems, building from a foundation of climate change projections specific to Missoula County.
The groups prioritized risks using two metrics: (1) how problematic the risk would be in the absence of any action to respond to it; and (2) how difficult it would be to respond to the risk. |
