2025 A roundup of our work and collection of news coverage throughout the year.

We've made great strides in wildfire smoke, heat, and human health :
Picture
In 2025 we've been busy working on wildfire smoke, heat, and health.

  • Heat Watch - we led a heat mapping campaign in August where citizen scientists collected data on temperature and humidity throughout Missoula County. Results coming soon!
  • Clean Air Centers - we worked with Missoula Public Health and libraries in Missoula and Ravalli counties to create a network of public buildings with cool, clean, indoor air that provide respite and resources.

There were many changes to the federal funding landscape this year that have greatly impacted our work. As such, we've been coming up with creative solutions to keep our work moving forward.

Namely, we've been providing support for the Home Upgrade Hub, a new countywide community resource where homeowners can receive 1-on-1 support to learn about ways to make their homes more comfortable and save money in every season.

2025 IN THE NEWS

From data collection to developing community resources - our work is making headlines and shaping a more just and climate ready future for Missoula County.

2024 YEAR IN REVIEW

Picture
Much of our work has taken place at the nexus of climate change and human health.

  • MontanaWildfireSmoke.org - our sister website with information on air quality,
  • Stay Cool Missoula - Extreme heat toolkit for community partners with an emphasis on emergency preparedness and response, community health, ecosystem health, built environment, and outreach. As part of this campaign, we developed a StoryMap to help tell the story of rising temperatures in Missoula County and provide information on how to beat the heat.

Elsewhere, we're all in on electrification. We've been navigating the new Inflation Reduction Act funding opportunities for clean energy and electrification, developing educational materials for community members, and collaborating with partners to pursue funding.
